Best Easter Ever

None of our family had words to describe how we felt driving away from church this evening.  It was that good.  Both boys made the decision to be baptized today. And it was epic!

About a month ago, Paul asked me on the way home from Bible Study if he could be baptized.  I said, "Yes!  Roots will have baptisms on Easter and that's just a few weeks away."  I didn't mention it again, not wanting to push if this wasn't really Paul's desire.  But it was his desire.  He brought it up again and again.  When the week before Easter arrived and it was time to attend the Baptism Class at Roots, he was ALL in.  Luke had heard us discussing it and he also indicated that he would like to attend the class.  Awesome.  Dinner was provided.  Double Awesome.

At the end of the class, both boys were super jazzed and excited to get baptized!  And today was the day.

We invited friends and family.  They all came.  They rejoiced with us and our Roots family.  The boys were actually the last of eleven baptisms!  So much fun.  Yes, we were outside and yes it rained and was windy and cold.  I didn't really notice.  And I don't think the boys did either, especially once they got in that tank.  I think the most amazing part for me was watching how seriously they answered the questions pertaining to their confession of faith.  It was real for them.  And so I cried a little.  Because more than anything in the world, more than good steady jobs as adults, more than productive lives, more even than successful, happy marriages, I want my boys to have a REAL faith, a growing faith, a faith in Jesus Christ that will carry them through all the crazy that is this world.  Right?

Wanna see the pics?  I knew you did.  There are lots of them. :-)

Luke gets ready to answer Pastor Trav's questions as a public declaration of his faith in Jesus Christ.

I love this smile and the fact that it is in response to our pastor.  We are so blessed.

 Luke takes the questions seriously.

 There he goes!

 Buried with Christ...

 Raised to new life!

Daddy prays over Luke.

Paul's turn!  Another pastor-induced smile.  Adorable and awesome.

 Ready to go!

 Buried with Christ...

 Raised to new life!

Daddy prays for Paul

Now, go back and look at each picture, but don't look at the boys or the Daddy-Man.  Look at the faces of the crowd.  This is our community.  These people are the ones who walk this journey with us.  And we are SO blessed by all of them.  Want a place to journey with real people on this real faith walk toward Jesus Christ?  Come check out Roots Community.  We are so blessed to be there.

What a glorious example Christ set for us...Luke and Paul have followed with all their hearts and the looks on the other little boy's faces is priceless. I started the day with David's joy in his son Solomon and ended with your joy in Luke and Paul. Praise God!
