Staring Contests and New Books

Paul's eyesight has definitely improved this week. He will track your face if you move it across his field of vision, and he will stare endlessly into your eyes, as Daddy demonstrates in the picture to the right. It is quite endearing. God knew what He was doing. Instead of thinking about how this creature deprived you of sleep between the hours of 4 am and 5 am just this past morning, you marvel at the look of love that already emanates from him. Pretty amazing.

In Luke news, he received a new book in the mail today from his Great Auntie Eileen. It is two classic Winnie the Pooh stories contained in a volume just his size. He promptly removed a cushion from the couch (I have no idea why he does this) and settled himself in for a nice quiet read. Looking at these pictures, one would seriously believe that he can read. I believe he thinks he can read. He often recites the pages he has memorized from other stories when he opens any new book or narrates the pictures he sees. Aah, literacy. :-)

Equally cute, but not as photogenic, Paul has begun to make those sweet little baby sounds that come with the first month of life. We can often be heard prompting him. "Say ah goo again!" Sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't.
Last but not least, Luke's cute sayings for the day: "Mommy, you wasting the batteries." Said to Mommy as he begged her to turn the camera back on so that he could spend more time viewing pictures of himself. Logic behind this is currently unknown.
"See this. See this." Said by Luke to anyone who would listen regarding his folded hands for prayer time. Said throughout the entire prayer (presumably to God, who sees all) and said as everyone kissed Luke goodnight, hands still folded, and left his room.

God does "see this" and smiles.

I used to do that with Dr. Seuss books and Bernstein Bears. Sadly, I can't remember how my version of the stories went.

Anyways... I think it was good for me, and he looks really cute doing it. Can't be bad!
